Importers to fight tariffs

The opposition of a group of importers against the Canadian Council of Furniture Manufacturers' efforts to impose safeguard tariffs of up to 60% on imports of household furniture from China is discussed. The group included Hamilton & Spill, Primo International and Magnussen Home Furnishings, all based in Canada.

Top 10 Canadian sources struggle for growth as imports gain force
Article Abstract:
The reasons for the slow increase in the growth rate of the Top 10 Canadian Furniture Resources, when compared to the year 2004, where the group saw only 1.9% gain are analyzed. The statistics regarding difference in value of furniture shipments in 2003 and 2004 made by these companies is presented.
