La-Z-Boy's Canadian push

La-Z-Boy Canada is marking the launch of its national expansion push with two La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery stores set to open in the fall of 1998. A 20,000-sq-ft store in the Toronto, Canada, suburb of Burlington is set to open in the middle of September 1998, while a slightly larger store will open in Ottawa, Canada, in October 1998. There are 16 additional stores under development, according to Ian Douglas, vice president of sales and marketing for La-Z-Boy Canada. Each of the stores, which will range from 12,000 sq ft to 18,000 sq ft, is expected to post an average yearly sales in the C$5 million range.
