Magnolia Plantation Gardens in Charleston, SC, is a repository of horticultural and historical treasures. The 500-acre property has waterways teeming with wildlife and garden areas filled with trees, shrubs, flowers and marsh plants. It was originally a working plantation of the Drayton family.

John White and the lost colony

John White's contribution to early American history includes not only his craft as an artist-voyager but also his founding of a particular community in Roanoke, which has mysteriously disappeared. The believed site of the settlement is now claimed by the United States National Park Service.
