New buyer deepens Star's commitment
Article Abstract:
Star Furnishings has been putting more importance on its rug department with plans to increase its inventory for the product, expand its product assortment and offer higher-priced merchandise. The move will allow Star Furnishings' stores to sell more than 50% of their rug offerings on a cash-and-carry basis. Rugs at Star Furnishings stores are retailed from $400 to $800 for a 6 by 9, with best selling price point fixed at $500 to $600 for the same size. The rug department accounts for less than 10% of the company's total business, although it is growing at a rate of 10% annually.
