Pier 1 building California distribution center
Article Abstract:
Pier 1 Imports is constructing a one-million-sq-ft distribution center in two stages in Ontario, CA. The new distribution center is replacing a smaller facility in the state and supporting existing stores and scheduled expansion in the West. The 750,000-sq-ft first stage is set to open in late spring 1999 and will replace the 450,000-sq-ft center in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The company can use an option with the developer for a 250,000-sq-ft expansion within five years. The new center will support around 145 stores in 11 Western states, including its planned expansion into Hawaii.
