Roberds combines markets
Article Abstract:
Furniture retail chain Roberds has combined two of its Southern markets under one regional president to confront the 11.8% decline in sales that occurred in April 1998. The firm combined its Cincinnati, OH, and Tampa, FL, markets and has appointed Steve Giordano as president of the newly-combined markets. Giordano was formerly the president of Roberds' Atlanta, GA, market. Roberds also revealed that it is continuing with other efforts to improve its operations, including cuts in its roster of furniture suppliers from 200 to less than 70. However, the firm refused to reveal the suppliers it has eliminated.
