Sleep Train charges on
Article Abstract:
Sleep Train, a furniture retailing company founded by Dale Carlsen in Sacramento, CA, in June 1985 using a few thousand dollars of his savings, has grown into a 42-store chain in just 13 years. Thirty seven of the company's 42 stores conduct business under the Sleep Train while the five others, three of them are in Sacramento and two in Seattle, WA, operate as Boxcar Bedding. Sleep Train stores, which offer a broader assortment of upper-end models, target value-oriented customers while Boxcar Bedding outlets are aimed at price-oriented customers. Sleep Train reported revenues of $25 million in 1997, up by almost 100% from 1996's $13 million.
