Thomasville plans events in 12 cities for Hemingway

Thomasville Furniture will launch the retail promotion of its Ernest Hemingway line in late spring 1999. The launch will include special programs in 12 cities. According to Jim Adams, senior vice president of sales and marketing, the company is already planning special events with Thomasville Home Furnishings Stores and other instore gallery retailers. A number of the events will be attended by Hemingway's first son, Jack Hemingway and wife Angela. The company aims to create excitement and enthusiasm for the line through the planned special events.

Two face arson charges

Former bedding store owner, Howard Gibney and his son Jonathan Ward will face federal arson charges for setting fire to the stores of two home furnishing competitors, Liquidators on National Turnpike and American Freight on North Wattereson Trail. The two men who were arrested in April 2004 were charged with two counts of damage by fire of a building used in interstate commerce and were indicted by a federal grand jury.
