Transamerica bids $C22M for Cantrex

Transamerica Commercial Finance Corp., a financial company headquartered in Canada, has offered a C$22-million or C$5-per-share bid for Cantrex Group. The deal will allow Transamerica to diversify into another business and provide new opportunities for growth, according to company president Peter Kelly. Transamerica, a subsidiary of San Francisco, CA-based Transamerica Corp., provides inventory financing and related services to retailers in Canada. Cantrex is a provider of merchandising and marketing programs to affiliated and independent retailers and an operator of banner programs such as Tendance Meubles and Mattress World.
