Wal-Mart still king; Target shows strong gains

The Top 5 discount department stores held on to their rankings with Wal-Mart in No 1 spot with sales of $ 1.4 billion. Kmart was No 2, having overcome Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2003. It was a creditable performance, despite losing 599 stores over a two-year period.

Telecommuters' numbers growing

According to the statistics released by the United States Bureau of Census, the number of people who telecommute or work at home during normal business hours almost everyday was 8.8 million in 2003 and 12.4 million in 2004. The relevant statistical data is presented.
