A Multisector Model of Efficiency Wages
Article Abstract:
An adequate framework for interindustry wage differential is not provided by most of the studies on efficiency wages as they typically model only one or two sectors. The shape of the effort supply curve by the worker is the major factor for wages, whether high or low, in those firms with lower turnover or which monitor workers on a more intensive level. Elasticity of effort by the worker is the determining factor for the relationship of wages, turnover, and worker monitoring.

Wages and Mobility: The Impact of Employer-Provided Training
Article Abstract:
Data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth between 1979 and 1991 indicate that there is an impact on job mobility among young men and their wages arising from employer-based job training. Reduced job mobility, rewards for previous on-the-job training, and a positive impact on wages seem to be the major conclusions from the Survey. The skills that are provided on training by the current employer seem to be specific and this seems to have an impact on mobility.

An Equilibrium Search Model with Coworker Discrimination
Article Abstract:
There are wage and unemployment differentials between minority and nonminority workers and males and females due to the discrimination that seems to persist in the labor market. Female employment and wage offers rise when there is greater female participation in the market. There is lower unemployment and higher pay for males, with comperable losses for females, when there is increased coworker discrimination by males.
