A good loss: R (Amicus - MSF section) v Secretary of State for Trade and Industry
Article Abstract:
A disturbingly large number of discrimination law cases in the United Kingdom are unsuccessful from the point of view of both the applicants as well as anti-discrimination advocates. In contrast, R (Amicus-MSF section) v Secretary of State for Trade and Industry [2004] IRLR 430, in which the judicial review challenge to various exceptions in the Sexual Oriental Regulations (EOR 119) that was unsuccessful on every ground, is still regarded as a 'good' loss for the advocates.

Is lack of belief protected?
Article Abstract:
Discrimination on grounds of religion or belief often takes the form of discrimination in favor of co-religionists or someone who shares the discriminator's particular belief rather than against someone, as they are of a particular religion. The Employment Equality Regulations 2003 make it unlawful to discriminate on grounds of religion or belief or similar philosophical belief.
