A national pension system

Article Abstract:

A national pension system is needed to provide a solution to the problems that face Congress and companies regarding the private retirement system. A pension system must be developed that is simple, inexpensive and easy to implement while respecting the rights of all concerned. Moreover, it must provide the necessary incentives that would make employers' investments worthwhile. However, the most important element is to provide the sufficient funding for a decent standard of living during retirement.

Public pension plans in the third millennium

Article Abstract:

Public pension regulations and administrative procedures should be revised, improved and maintained in constant to meet the needs of the changing workforce. In the year 2000 and beyond, the public employee workforce is expected to acquire a more elderly, more female and more service oriented population with more financial pressure to provide for retirement. Plan administrators should therefore be ready for these changes immediately to attain a successful transition.

Where have all the good fiduciaries gone?

Article Abstract:

Selection of fiduciaries must be done carefully to ensure successful benefits plan administration and avoidance of ethical dilemmas. Employer directives may conflict with legal obligations, and decisions may be swayed by service provider deals. Fiduciaries also require federal statutory protection and confidential forums for reporting violations.
