Prohibited transaction class exemption for in-house managers: an overview and practical guide
Article Abstract:
The Dept of Labor's in-house asset manager (INHAM) exemption provides exemption from the prohibited transaction rules similar to that provided to outside managers under the qualified professional asset manager exemption. Because of concerns about lack of independence, the INHAM exemption is not as broad and a compliance audit will be required. The transactions covered by the exemption include those with service providers, sponsors and affiliates.

What the heck is a QMCSO and how do you get one?
Article Abstract:
Administrators of group health insurance policies are required by the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 to comply with a 'qualified medical child support order' (QMCSO) giving medical coverage to children of parents participating in the plan. All group health policies covered by ERISA are subject to properly drafted QMCSOs. Administration of QMCSOs is detailed and questions are answered.
