Catching up on competitors: how organizations can motivate employees to work harder

Article Abstract:

There are a number of elements which work together to encourage employees to work harder and thus boost their company's competitiveness. Some employees see work as a key element in their lives, and will work harder if their job offers interest and satisfaction. Others are motivated by the prospect of promotion to a position with a higher salary, but it is becoming clear that financial and other tangible incentives have only a limited role in motivating employees to work harder.

PREP your employees for retirement

Article Abstract:

Employers can organize preretirement education seminars to help employees and their spouses prepare for retirement. The first step is to choose human resources or staff training personnel to plan the seminars. Notices should then be posted to inform employees about the seminar while a venue away from the workplace should be selected. A retirement plan representative, an attorney, and financial planning and health maintenance experts should also be invited as speakers.

Rewarding employees for not using sick leave

Article Abstract:

Paid sick leave can be an economic liability to any organization due to unwarranted employee absenteeism. An alternative is to pay employees for being well. In one study, a well-pay plan resulted in 3139.25 hours of reduced absenteeism and an 85% satisfaction rate among employees.
