'Ghost ships' raise controversial issues
Article Abstract:
The US government decision to dispose of around 150 obsolete vessels (ships) that contain toxic materials, which affect the health and safety, is raising a wide range of controversial issues. The lack of sustainable ship scrapping facilities presents a growing problem and there are few incentives for shipowners to scrap vessels in an environmentally sound and safe manner.
