Industry charts a safer future for asthma sufferers

Article Abstract:

The charter, Asthma at Work, aims to foster a concerted approach by employees, employers and health professionals through which regular health checks, awareness and reduction of risks, together with rapid recognition and treatment of industrial asthma would produce a safer work environment. The Charter points out that prompt diagnosis and treatment of occupational asthma are crucial as occupational asthma can be cured if it is identified quickly enough.

The Corporate Health and Safety Performance Indicator (CHaSPI) was needed because there are too many accidents at work and too many staff off sick. CHaSPI would assist organizations in measuring the effectiveness of internal controls over occupational health and safety risks.
