A phased approach to retirement training
Article Abstract:
Lever Brothers Co has developed a phased approach to pre-retirement training which not only informs employees about retirement but encourages them to examine their attitudes toward retirement. The program was developed to provide earlier communication about retirement, involve spouses in the process, and provide opportunities for employees to 'ease' into retirement. The resulting program views retirement as a process instead of a goal and consists of four phases beginning ten years before retirement dates and continuing into post-retirement periods.

PI: not just a programme..
Article Abstract:
Tektronix UK, in a move to increase efficiency and reduce manufacturing lead time, abolished the post of supervisor; devolved decision-making authority to workers on the shop floor; and reduced the levels of management from seven levels to three at its Hoddesdon, Great Britain plant. The non-union company decentralized to encourage information sharing and decision-making involvement, which it believed necessary for the introduction of just-in-time planning and management resource planning.
