Making the most of a training session

Article Abstract:

An employee can maximize the benefits of training programs through: development of prerequisite abilities; self-motivation; preparation; careful listening, observation and recording during training; active class participation; and review and practice of material learned. The trainee gains the most benefit by utilizing information learned during sessions, which can take many forms, including: study of materials or notes, reading of related materials, repetition of physical activities performed in training, and consultation of alternative references. The greatest reinforcement of learning takes place if review and practices begins shortly after training and is repeated often.
