Monsanto fined 17000 pounds sterling over genetically modified crops risk
Article Abstract:
Monsanto, a biotech company, has been fined 17,000 pounds sterling plus costs, at Caistor Magistrates Court, Lincolnshire, after a prosecution was brought under Section 111 of the 1990 Environmental Protection Act. Perryfields Holdings Ltd was also fined. Both companies broke their conditions of consent to test-plant herbicide resistant oilseed rape. Friends of the Earth claims that just a third of the 300 GM trial sites have been monitored and one in 10 inspected sites had breached their consents between April and October 1998. FoE believes that the Monsanto case should have been heard in the Crown Court, where there is no upper limit on fines.

His brilliant Korea is a lifetime of lies
Article Abstract:
Korean leader Kim I1 Sung tells lies, especially about his country's nuclear weapons. North Korea withdrew from the Non-Proliferation Treaty and had a 'semi-war' with the US. North Korea was said to be the world's most efficient rice producer, but there are food riots as the national daily ration is restricted. Kim I1 Sung was born in 1912. He fought with anti-Japanese guerillas in China and joined the Chinese Communist party in 1931. In 1946 Stalin approved his appointment as leader North Korea. He has been deified into a cult at great expense, with 50,000 statues, exhibitions and celebrations.
