Network searches brain for solvent solution
Article Abstract:
The European Network for a Better Work Environment safety campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the brain damage that can potentially be caused by workplace solvents. About 2 million people in the UK are at risk from brain damage through frequent use of organic solvents, with as many as 10,000 per year of these people already suffering. Action is called for to lower the risks. Effects of long-term exposure to solvents include personality changes and loss of concentration and memory. Compensation claims are difficult to obtain as symptoms must be shown to result from exposure to the chemical.

A slippery solution to foot fatigue
Article Abstract:
Uvex has developed the Hydro-flex system insole shock absorber, which is aimed to tackle the problem of foot fatigue. The new product claims to cut walking strain by a maximum of 80%. The system features two elastic laminated discs which separate an oil-filled cell, placed under the heel. The oil compresses with the pressure of the heel and delays the shock by 10-20 milliseconds.
