Part - and full - time firefighters on the same contracts, but not the same work

Article Abstract:

The Court of Appeals decision in the case of Matthews and others v Kent and Medway Towns Fire Authority and others to employ the retained firefighters on the same type of contracts as full-time firefighters based on the reg. 2(4) of Part-time Workers Regulations has been presented. But the retained fighters work was found not to be same as full-time workers as claimed.

Part--time employee treated less favorable when all posts are designated full time

Article Abstract:

In Brett v Royal Mail Group PLC, an Ashford employment tribunal upheld that designation of all posts full time in a restructured department causing the dismissal of a part-time employee was a breach of the Part-time Workers Regulations 2000 and indirect tax discrimination.
