Respiratory protection factors - a question of choice
Article Abstract:
The UK Health & Safety Executive is placing strong emphasis on the need to improve practice relating to respiratory protection in the workplace. Employers considering which respiratory protection equipment to purchase must ensure that it is fit for the purpose for which it is intended. Care must be taken to avoid over-specifying, as this means that the equipment itself can become a hazard. However, it is also vital not to under-specify, thus endangering the health of employees. The most expensive respiratory protection equipment is not necessarily the best.

MPs support 'indecent exposure' campaign on noise at work
Article Abstract:
The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) has launched its Noise at Work Campaign, and the RNID/TUC report 'Indecent Exposure' claims that new service industries may be creating new ways to damage the hearing. Research shows that in a range of industries, workers had to listen to uncomfortably loud sounds for over four hours a day leaving them with dullness of hearing. Research also shows that employers are not taking appropriate action to protect staff.
