Sex segregation exacerbating skills shortage

Article Abstract:

A new Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) report finds that unless dramatic action is taken to end sex segregation in jobs, businesses in the United Kingdom would face major skills shortages and eventually damage the wider economy. With a focus on Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) in skill shortage areas, the EOC report calls on the government to develop a national strategy to tackle gender segregation in training and work.
