Special Handling

Article Abstract:

A situation involving a handicapped employee is detailed. A Vietnam veteran is hired by a company as part of a new program for mainstreaming the handicapped. The handicapped employee appears resentful and has a low performance level. The supervisor, in analyzing the situation, asks questions and probes for answers. Handicapped employees do not require special handling. They want to be treated like everyone else.

They're Not Robots, They're People

Article Abstract:

Morale effects productivity. Performance appraisals should be conducted objectively without destroying morale. Morale can also be affected by the supervisor's manner. Employees need to be treated as people, not as robots. Supervision should not be overly constricting; employees need responsibility.
