Testing times for CBT courseware designers

Article Abstract:

The University of Surrey has developed a course for designers of computer-based training (CBT) materials in response to the shortage of CBT courseware designers in the UK. The course is offered jointly by the department of educational studies and the department of mathematical and computing studies. The postgraduate course is part-time and consists of four core modules and six options. The goals of the course include: giving students an awareness of interactive multi-media training systems and their cost-effectiveness, teaching students to decide on appropriate delivery systems for training needs, and teaching students how to design and implement high-quality courseware and integrate the courseware into training programs. The course is the first one of its kind in the UK.
