The study tries to define the Portuegese human resource management model, which is hitherto extensively not researched. Though most companies have a separate department to handle the human resource management functions the authority is not delegated to the functional level managers.

The cultural orientations of Omani employees and their influence on the employee's choice of human resource management policies and practices are examined. Human nature orientation, activity orientation and relational orientation are some of the most influential orientations.
