The impact of school and college expenditures on the wages of Southern and non-Southern workers
Article Abstract:
The ways improved college and pre-college education can impact earnings for workers in Southern U.S. states compared to those in non-Southern states are explored, with it claimed that wage levels are directly related to the amount of money spent on education, and that their will be a greater impact for workers in Southern states than for those in non-Southern states. The mathematical model used and the tests performed on it are described. The results indicate that while southern worker wage equation coefficient estimates on school and college expenditure variables are greater, they are not significantly greater by statistical tests.

Vertical Spillovers, Market Concentration, Union Coverage, and Wages
Article Abstract:
Martin and Rence offer a model to test for the effects of unionization, if any, on what they describe as vertically related industries. Model framework, empirical method and results are outlined. In the industries sampled, the authors studied the suppliers and the buyers of each industry. Conclusions indicate workers are more likely to unionize if the suppliers or buyers of their products are unionized industries. Some nonunion workers seem to benefit from unionization of related industry.

The Ross-Dunlop debate reviewed
Article Abstract:
A reinterpretation of the Ross-Dunlop debate of the 1940s is given, and a survey of recent work was undertaken in an effort to provide answers to Ross' unanswered questions. Little difference was found in the opinions of Ross and Dunlop in explaining trade union behavior on the basis of economic factors and optimizing behavior.
