US employers tighten reins on tuition reimbursement

Article Abstract:

A survey shows that 50% of US employers do not reimburse staff for continuing education credits that are needed to maintain professional certification, and only 29% of employers provide full reimbursement to staff education tied directly to basic job functions. Budget constraints are the main reason for the low reimbursement rate, since corporations tend to focus heavily on completing immediate daily tasks rather than preparing for long-term needs.
