WEEE directive: Why and when

Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Directive aims to reduce the waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment and improve the environmental performance of all those involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment. WEEE will affect every business, so it is essential to build a company strategy to include the new legislation and organizations need to act quickly in order to comply.

The changes to the Control Of Substances Hazardous To Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) along with their implications for UK plc are examined. As part of the COSHH risk assessment, employers should determine their own working practices and in-house standards for control, maintain plant and equipment in an efficient state and ensure whether any workplace exposure limit approved for the substance is not exceeded.

Should delivery drivers belt up more often?

Many van drivers making deliveries or collection avoid wearing seatbelts on longer trips. The Department For Transport (DFT) suggests that 10 or 20 metres should be the maximum travelling distance permitted without a seatbelt.
