Arts and Crafts designers invented the living room concept by deviating from the norms and restrictions of the Victorian descendants, for everyday use by members of the family, the dining room for hospitality, and the workroom for study, books, magazines and newspapers for perusal. Each room is furnished according to the requirements, living room for comfort, ease and plenty of ventilation, dining room easy to maintain and move freely, workroom comfortable, airy, convenient, restful and cordial.

George Nakashima furniture
Article Abstract:
George Nakashima (1905-1990) who is best known for the organic wooden furniture that he created from the 1950s to 1980s shared an affinity for mid-century American aesthetics biomorphic form, and was deeply devoted to the principles of the Arts and Craft movement. His designs allowed for natural expansion and contraction of the wood and even as machines were used to keep in pace with the demand, final fitting was done by hand.
