Zathura: Trekking the cosmos with Greene and Greene

Hollywood has popularly used the Arts and Crafts design in numerous movies, such as the Columbia Pictures 2005 film adaptation of Chris Van Allsberg's picture book 'Zathura: A Space Adventure', directed by Jon Favreau. The house in Zathura has the kind of stylistic genus associated with the Arts and Crafts architects Charles and Henry Greene and it plays a central role in the movie where the characters are sent rocketing through the cosmos in the California Carftsman bungalow.

Page Brown, Ernest Coxhead, Bernard Maybeck and their spiritual and philosophical guide Reverend Joseph Worchester constructed an aesthetic of simplicity and concern for land in San Francisco at the end of the 19th century. The Russian Hill has distinctive architecture inspired from Japan, Spanish-colonial missions, Swiss chalets and the New England Shingle style.
