An elder statesman moves on
Article Abstract:
Former National Assn. of Insurance Commissioners head Brian K. Atchinson deserves special recognition. Atchinson, who is one of the veterans of the profession, was considered a peacemaker by his NAIC colleagues and helped unite them into a cooperative alliance while fulfilling his function as Maine's insurance superintendent. As a state insurance regulator, Atchinson balanced adroitly the needs of the public and the requirements of the companies.
