Closing the book on library losses
Article Abstract:
Theft, fire, losses in transit - these are the primary means by which libraries lose valuable collections. Libraries can preempt these losses by implementing a risk management program that includes marine inland insurance. These policies valuate property not on the basis of gradual deterioration but on the basis of a library's mission. Risk management measures should include disaster preparedness and the selection of a document restoration firm in advance.
