Confessions of an insurance observer
Article Abstract:
Former Gannett Co. Chmn. Allen H. Neuharth noted that the insurance industry has not really made any effort to sell its positive values and benefits to the consumer through aggressive advertising programs. He pointed out that recent media attention on insurance concerned the fraudulent activities of some insurers against their policyholders. Neuharth believes that if the industry wants more media attention on their positive side, it should actively make efforts to focus that attention to itself.

Agents need to be aware of the circumstances in which a plaintiff must pursue a direct action as well as the opportunities in which a plaintiff might pursue an action even though not mandatory.
