Article Abstract:
The life insurance industry continued on its revival path in 2004 and is expected to continue in 2005. The industry will have to comply with the provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and will be subjected to additional regulations in the wake of illegal bid-rigging lawsuit filed against insurance broker Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. Relief to group life writers from terrorist risks, reserving requirements, new mortality rates etc., are also discussed.

Based on the financial results and assets of US life insurance industry for the year ended December 31, 2003, it is observed that the large well-known life and health insurance companies lead the group and on the whole, the industry is healthy. Relevant statistics is furnished.
