Don't throw your adjusters to the lions
Article Abstract:
Insurers should train and prepare claims adjusters before sending them into the field. Claims adjusters are often forced to learn on the job, but they will learn more quickly if they are familiar with accepted industry practices. Specific guidelines on checking coverage on declaration pages carefully, informing claimants of the insurer's payment responsibilities, determining the degree of negligence of the insured, and how to prepare for negotiations with attorneys should be taught to newly-hired adjusters.

Mishandling fire claims can lose court cases: proper training of fire claims handlers can fireproof a later legal challenge
Article Abstract:
Fire claims adjusters should familiarize themselves with the fire investigation techniques used and the legal strategies of potential plaintiffs to avoid legal quagmires. The National Fire Protection Assn tried but failed to become the definitive standard for the industry, so claims adjusters need to rely on the conclusions of experts in the field.

High-tech restoration can blast loss costs
