Facilitating stock ownership through company-sponsored stock option loans
Article Abstract:
Company-sponsored stock option loans are a relatively inexpensive way to boost employee morale and increase their financial stake in their company. This incentive can permit executives to own as much as they want of the offered shares and thus maximize their ownership. The loan can be given and supervised through an internal setup or by external groups. While the scheme is overtly beneficial, it poses risks when stock prices drop.
