In the light of an increasing market competition, board of directors of some large insurance enterprises are trying to scout CEOs who possess broad financial background and top-flight management skills. Part of his responsibility is to improve profitability, boost sales and expand the line-up of financial service products.

Insurance companies would be wise to view banks as potential marketing allies instead of adversaries. The strategy of pursuing litigation to fight the expansion of bank powers is questionable, given Supreme Court rulings that appear to support the expansion. Insurance agents could capitalize on bank access to middle-income customers. Competition for insurers is coming from a range of financial services firms, not only banks.
