Self-help for the author in you
Article Abstract:
It is possible to write and publish a book using modern technology and this is shown by the case of a book on Africa. The cost was just over 2,000 pounds sterling, and standard software can be used. Photographs can be reproduced with a scanner, and Intype, a company in London, England, can carry out this service. An international standardised book number (IBSN) can be obtained for free. Reviews, promotion and distribution are needed for a book to be a commercial success, and agents and publishers can help in this area, but there is no need to make a book a commercial venture.

The outsourcing partnership
Article Abstract:
Arbella Mutual Insurance Co has successfully outsourced its printing and mailing activities to the direct-mail agency Output Technologies Inc. This arrangement saves Arbella the costs of offset printing, document storage, paper, envelopes and postage. It affords Arbella the flexibility to handle peak mailing periods and gets invoices out quickly so that they are collected sooner. Output Technologies also generates Arbella's microfiche. Arbella considers its relationships with Output Technologies and its other, data processing outsourcing vendor as close partnerships.
