Extranet technology promises to be the key to achieving reliability, security and manageability with Internet use among insurance companies. A virtual private Internet, or an extranet, would offer reliable and secure transfer of sensitive information, while the Internet would provide inexpensive and easy-to-use technology. An extranet would promote communication among business partners, vendors and customers as well as allow specialized applications.
