The minority challenge
Article Abstract:
The insurance industry needs to increase its level of minority employment. Demographic trends indicate that minorities will make up 25 % of the U.S. workforce by the year 2000. Further, during the '90's nearly 33 % of first-job employees will be minorities. The insurance industry falls below the percentage of hispanic and black employment typically found in U.S. industries. An important way to reverse this trend is for insurance-industry firms to sponsor minority education. The College of Insurance has a highly successful program called the Minority Honors Internship Program.
