Underwriting the millennium
Article Abstract:
American International Group Inc, in partnership with Minet Inc, will offer insurance for companies that face the Year 2000 computer problem. The policies will be finite or blended insurance. The client under the policy participates in the risk by paying a premium that could range from $60 to $80 million for coverage of $100 million. In a finite risk policy, insurers hold large premiums and could rebate part of the premium based on losses. Industries most at risk for Year 2000 losses include insurance, aerospace and telecommunications.

What am I bid?
Article Abstract:
Some alternatives in dealing with insurance liquidation are presented to resolve the problem concerning unpaid claimants and policy holders. An auction may be resorted to to value insurance liabilities and to transfer administration of those liabilities to operating companies. This process would eliminate the uncertainty confronting policy holders, and would provide immediate settlement of developed claims. It would also reduce the costs of insurance company liquidation.
