Article Abstract:

Insurance companies are beginning to consider employee leasing services, professional employer organizations (PEOs), better risks. PEOs contract with businesses to transfer human resources and payroll responsibilities to the PEO. CNA Financial Corp is planning to create a PEO by the beginning of the summer 1997. Insurance companies have avoided PEOs following a series of criminal and civil legal actions that allegedly involved insurance fraud on the part of CEOs. Some of that litigation is still pending.

Article Abstract:

Insurance companies should take advantage of opportunities to sign up the clients of accounting firms. These opportunities have become available due to the declining income of accounting firms, authorities' decision to allow accountants to receive commissions and the ownership of accounting firms by non-CPAs. The best way for insurers to attract CPA firm clients is to market value-added services using strategies that comply with various state laws.

Growth in direct marketing may yield future profits

Article Abstract:

Direct marketing of insurance is increasing in Europe. Direct insurers offer effective cross-selling to target markets, competitive pricing and quality customer service. The deregulation of the insurance industry and the increased use of direct marketing techniques have contributed to the rise of direct insurance in Europe. Direct insurance sales are expected to increase substantially through the year 2000.
