Mahan, a "Place in the Sun," and Germany's quest for sea power
Article Abstract:
Germany decided to make a place for itself in the sun and become a force to be reckoned with in 1897, before the First World War. For this she needed to have sea power, that would help her find colonies and build up her strength just like the British, which according to an American naval captain Alfred Thayer Mahan was imperative for a nation's well-being in both war as well as peace.
