Ballistic missile proliferation in the Middle East

Article Abstract:

The question of proliferation of ballistic missiles in the Middle East has major regional security implications due to their low cost and multiplicity of uses. There is little possibility of the spread of ballistic missile technology in the 1990s despite its utility. This is largely due to the general economic crisis facing the countries of the region and the control on transfer of ballistic missile technology.

Helsinki, demarcation, and the prospects for U.S.-Russian accommodation on the anti-ballistic missile treaty

Article Abstract:

The US needs to review its defense policy on national missile defenses if it is to succeed in future international negotiations. Modifications to the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty have not been in the interests of the US. The US should discontinue its involvement with the ABM Treaty agreement and go after a national missile defenses agreement to maximize national benefits at reduced cost.
