Neoclassical and structural analysis of poverty: winning the economic kingdom' for the poor in southern Africa
Article Abstract:
Many southern African settler countries need palliative public policy to reduce poverty, as there is injustice in the distribution of economic resources. The neoclassical and structural analysis of poverty is presented and it is suggested that a state sponsored redistribution policy has an important role to play in changing underlying property regimes for the benefit of poor in southern Africa.

Post-development theory and the question of alternatives: a view from Africa

An African perspective of the post-development theories that declare development obsolete and bankrupt and call for 'alternatives to development', is presented. An African experience is valuable for all, who are seeking alternative ways for dealing with the problems that development purports to address.

Neoliberalism is consolidated in African states by expanding its boundaries from macroeconomic fundamentals into broader concerns of state reconstruction. Historical and structuralistic approaches are proposed to understand the way markets evolve within societies and their developmental possibilities.
