A challenge to shareholder supremacy in the public firm

The prominent arguments for share holder wealth maximization as the singular goal of public firm management was challenged. The principle is neither descriptive nor necessarily efficient, promoting the myth of shareholder supremacy without the actuality encourages management irresponsibility.
