The loss of a client told trusts and estates practitioner J. Keith George that he needed to rethink his relationship with his clients. He now places more importance on personal contact and weekly updates than on speed and efficiency, noting that such a change is especially appropriate for his practice. He also switched from alternate billing practices to hourly billing, citing the latter's contact value and opportunity to discuss recent work on the client's behalf.

Computers in court can make an attorney more effective by helping to free time through searching and organization techniques, on-the-spot printing, and more. Attorneys Breck Seiniger and Joseph W. Shea III have separately won major trials against multiple defending attorneys for millions of dollars, thanks largely to the power and flexibility of laptop computers in the courtroom.
