The mission of the ABA Section of Law Practice Management is to help legal professionals master the practical demands of building and managing a successful law practice. This mission also helps it provide valuable help to the profession in increasing its commitment to public service, improving ethics and professionalism, and promoting diversity.

The services offered by the ABA State and Local Government Law Section and the unexpected diversity of its membership are discussed. Areas addressed by the section include land use, public finance and contracts, labor, and public operations. Publications of the section and pro bono work offered are also discussed.
